On April 24, 2006, the San Francisco office held its first-ever Pro Bono Awards Luncheon to recognize attorneys, paralegals, and staff who contributed significant time to pro bono work in 2005.
San Francisco Awards:
- Joshua Koltun* was named Partner of the Year for his work with the New Perimeter team, helping establish and support the Southern Africa Litigation Centre.
- Katherine Keating*, Deborah McCrimmon, and Carter Ott were named Associates of the Year.
- Katherine worked on behalf of capital defendant Ronald Seaton and her representation of the California First Amendment Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to peoples’ right to access public records and participate in government.
- Deborah was recognized for her role in the prosecution of Adolfo Scilingo, a Lieutenant in the Argentine Navy from 1976 – 1983, who was charged in Spain with genocide and crimes against humanity committed against Spanish nationals in Argentina.
- Carter worked on a federal case against a residential real estate mortgage broker and a residential mortgage lender for predatory practices.
- Katie Goya* and Jeff Reeves were named Paralegals of the Year for assisting in the representation of capital defendant Ronald Seaton.
*These attorneys have since left the firm to pursue other opportunities.
