Atlanta
On April 16, 2007, the Atlanta office held its first ever Pro Bono Awards reception to recognize attorneys, paralegals, and staff who made significant contributions to the firm's pro bono efforts in 2006.
Atlanta Awards:
- Amy Quackenboss was named Of Counsel of the Year. Amy took on the role of Pro Bono Coordinator in the Atlanta office, which opened last year, developing relationships with legal service providers and hosting programs of Pfizer, Inc.’s two-part “Strategic Legal Thinking for Not-for-Profit Executives” seminar. In addition, Amy revised the Alabama Voters’ Rights Guide for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law as part of its Election Protection program. She also represents Adopt-a-Golden Atlanta, Inc., which works to recover damages from those who adopt and then abandon golden retrievers.
- Ann DePriester and Anthony Lehman were recognized as Associates of the Year. Ann and Tony prepared multiple sections of the report Failure to Protect: A Call for the UN Security Council to Act in North Korea.
- Tony’s involvement continues with the effort to have the European Parliament pass a resolution related to North Korea’s human rights abuses. Tony also brought to trial a case involving a disputed land title issue. His client successfully obtained title to the property in question—nearly eight years after the events leading up to the case took place and more than five years after the litigation began.
- Ann represented the proprietor of the Living Foods Institute and author of The Living Foods Lifestyle in a trademark infringement suit.
