David has headed the Southern Africa Litigation Centre New Perimeter project since early 2005, supervising the team of associates and partners from several different offices. He also supervised an associate in a long, hard-fought asylum application.
David has a long record of pro bono work and high-level involvement in international human rights issues. As an associate at another firm, he handled two Section 1983 inmate suits, assisted with the successful challenge to Louisiana’s “creation science” statute, and participated in human rights missions to several countries. As a partner in a second firm, David supervised the pro bono practice, including the development of firm policies and providing advice on individual cases. David is a past chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on International Human Rights and a member of the Advisory Board of Human Rights Watch/Americas.
