Additional Ways we Serve
  • Bar Association Work - DLA Piper has become a charter member of the new Chicago Bar Foundation Law Firm Leadership Circle, a groundbreaking initiative that will embody best practices for law firms on pro bono, firm giving, and related issues involving access to justice on behalf of low-income and disadvantaged people. In joining the new Leadership Circle, 20 firms committed to support pro bono and legal aid by encouraging their lawyers to complete at least 35 hours of pro bono work annually; donating at least $300 annually per lawyer in their Chicago offices to legal aid organizations; participating in the foundation’s Investing in Justice Campaign; advocating for adequate legal aid funding at the federal state, and local levels; providing in-kind marketing, training, and administrative support for legal aid agencies to the extent practicable; and striving to support public interest law fellowships, rotations, and internships.
  • Estate Planning 101 - An attorney from the San Diego office gives presentations to local groups on various aspects of estate planning.
  • Committee of 70 - Members of the Philadelphia office participated in this non-partisan effort to encourage voting at primary and national elections.
  • LifeWorks - Attorneys and staff from the Austin office completely refurbished an apartment for a deserving young man so he could begin a new life.  The project was sponsored by LifeWorks, a network of services for families and youth.
  • Women Everywhere Partners in Service Project - Fifteen Chicago attorneys and staff members participated in the seventh annual Women Everywhere Partners in Service project volunteer day, an annual citywide event dedicated to increasing pro bono efforts and contributing to women's causes.  The DLA Piper team volunteered at Family Rescue's Ridgeland Transitional Living and Daycare Program, which offers subsidized housing and services to survivors of domestic violence.  Volunteers helped with cleaning the inner andouter stairwells of the apartment building, gardening, fence painting, and organizing daycare projects.
